Award of the 2013 John Monash Scholarships

The 2013 John Monash Scholars were formally presented to Her Excellency Ms Quentin Bryce AC, CVO at a function at Admiralty House in Sydney on Tuesday 12 February.  Following the official presentation guests joined the Foundation, Scholars and their families at a reception at the Royal Sydney Yacht Sqadron attended by Her Excellency Marie Bashir AC, CVO, Governor of NSW and General Peter Crosgrove AC MC.

 

The 2013 Scholars pictured above with the Governor-General are:

Huw Pohlner (VIC), Alexandra Phelan (VIC), Jessica Mathie (WA), Alexander Barbaro (NSW), Jillian Kilby (NSW), Kate Mitchell (QLD), Stephanie Pow (NSW), Cavin Wilson (ACT), Sarah Bourke (ACT) and Kate Smith (QLD).

2005 Scholar Andrew Hudson takes on Global Role

John Monash Scholar Andrew Hudson has taken on a new role at the leading international human rights organisation, Crisis Action. Hudson, who joined Crisis Action in 2010 after an outstanding career in human rights leadership, will transition from New York Director into a new global role as Deputy Executive Director. Andrew used his John Monash Scholarship to complete a Masters in Laws in Global Public Service Law from the New York University School of Law in 2006.

In the new role, Andrew will have oversight for the organisation’s eight international offices, as well as organisational strategy, finance and fundraising. Andrew will also lead Crisis Action’s expansion into emerging powers, such as Brazil and South Africa, as well its emergency response work helping civilians affected by sudden onset conflict.
