Applications closed for the 2011 John Monash Scholarships on 31st August. Currently, the State Secretariats are shortlisting candidates for interview in September and October, and pursuing referee reports for those to be interviewed.
The CEO of the John Monash Foundation, Dr Peter Binks, was delighted with the interest in the Scholarships. Nearly 200 Applications were received: an increase of over 40% over previous years. Applications were submitted from students from all over the world and all parts of Australia. Peter commented that “There is clearly an increased appetite for international postgraduate study amongst Australian graduates. The Foundation has over the last year focussed very hard on its Alumni and increasing awareness of the scholarships and the increase in applications received has shown that the marketing efforts have been a success”.
Winners of the 2011 John Monash Scholarships will be announced in December, with the Scholarship Awards being presented by the Governor-General in Canberra in March next year.
